I am looking for donations of old sailboats that are less than 14 feet in length to be restored and put back into use at Lake Sweetwater.
If a boat is not too far gone, I'll get it refitted at a sailboat shop in Austin and then offer it for sale to Lake Sweetwater users for whatever it cost me to get it lakeworthy again. I'm not looking to make a profit. I keep a small sailboat trailer at Lake Sweetwater and will personally pick up any donation. The reason for the length limit is because one is not required in Texas to title or put a hull number on a non motorized boat that is less than 14 feet long. Such boats can be transferred with a simple bill of sale instead of the onerous TPWD paperwork required for larger boats. Even if a hull is too far gone to repair, its spars, mast, sail, and misc hardware would still be useful to the project. Please check your shed, barn, and the brush thicket out back. ![]() |

I still have a sailboat trailer that needs new tires and new wood slats. Other than that it is Galvanized and in great shape. Let me know if you want it.

Next time we are both at the lake I'll come over and take a look at it.
