![]() Had some nice sailing days on Lake Sweetwater since the rain stopped last week. Switched off between the Capri 14.2 and the Sunfish. I'm liking the Sunfish more and more. It doesn't seem to have the trickster temperment that the Capri has. ![]() Haven't seen any other sails on the Lake except for cove neighbor Mark White, who made his first trip out on his new/old Dolphin Senior yesterday. I'll be at the cabin for the next ten days. If someone wants some sailing company on the lake, drop me a note. |

![]() Sunday, 18 July was just about perfect for Lake Sweetwater sailing. Nice sky, nice wind at 8 to 13 MPH, and not too hot. Was out for about 3 hours in the Sunfish. Looped the lake several times, saw lots of folks using the lake - even the swimming beach was busy. I strapped a little Flip camcorder onto the roof of my dock and paraded the Sunfish in front of it for a while. A short, non sleep inducing version has been posted to the lake web site. http://www.lakesweetwater.com/sweetw...18_Jul_10.html |

hey Major,
did you tie up the red ribbon "wind sock" in our cove? it's a great help launching off, coming in, or just deciding if there is enough wind. if you did, Thanks mark white |

Yep - I am the culprit. I had noticed some time ago that the wind ribbon on my dock often showed a different wind direction from what was out in the cove. Had been meaning to put the new ribbon up earlier in the summer but just never got around to it. Would also like to put some up at other places around the lake.

I put two hours and 6.4 miles on the Sunfish yesterday - first sail since the end of July. Wind was pretty steady at around 15 MPH, water temp 80. Lake was empty except for two kids who came out in a canoe late in the afternoon.
I'm at the cabin for a couple of weeks and will try to take a boat out daily. My family will have several sailboats on the lake over the Labor Day weekend - wind permitting. If anyone wants to leave a sailboat at my dock or beach overnight over the holiday weekend, you are welcome to. You can't trailer launch/recover at my beach but I'd be glad to shuttle you between my place and the public landing. |

Finally got a break from six weeks of too high wind.

Lake Sweetwater may be ten feet down, but there is still plenty of lake for sailing. Lots of ramp left at the bait shop for easy in and out.

Hello Major
Just got my Sail Magazine in and it had an article about pirates. They are getting pretty rough on Pirates especially the Chinese. They shoot first and ask questions later. Better keep an eye out!
