Default Golf Course Irrigation

Numbers aren't as much fun as a chain saw, but can still be interesting.

Yesterday I found a City of Sweetwater document that stated that the Lake Sweetwater golf course draws 25 million gallons a year from the lake. Whoa, I thought, that is a lot of water. Turns out, not really, as it would take 41 years for the golf course acting alone to empty the lake starting from the current level - all other factors not changing.

So ... golf course irrigation would not appear to be a problem even with the drought.

The Texas Water Development Board says that the current lake level of 14 ft 2.8 inches below the spillway translates into 3,173 acre feet of water or roughly one thousand thirty four million gallons (1.034 billion gallons).
Best regards, Major H

Very interesting! I could water my yard from lake and not make a dent.
