Default Want to Buy a Sunfish Sailboat - Boat Found

Looking for a used Sunfish sailboat.

1970s and 1980s boats OK, if not holed and not covered with gel coat cracks.

I don't mind a few dings or a bit of fading. Poor sail or no sail OK so long as you still have the mast and spars.

30 March 2010. No longer looking to buy a Sunfish for personal use - I found two in Austin. However, will still accept any derelict sail boat donations for eventual refitting and resale, at refitting cost, to other wanna be Lake Sweetwater sailors.

Just send me an email. My personal email address is below.

I am actually looking for several cheap/used Sunfish to restore for my kids and grandkids and to share with other folks at Lake Sweetwater. The new boats are just too darn expensive.

A great thing about Sunfish and Sunfish clones (such as the San Angelo Fillip Starfish) is that they don't need to be registered, numbered, or titled in Texas because they are less than 14 feet long. They can change hands with just a bill of sale.

Yee hah!.

I finally found a used Sunfish that I could afford today in Austin. Actually two - both great 1982 Sunfish with a double decker trailer. Hulls as tight as tight can be, no sun fading or cracks, with new sails and rudders. Always stored in a garage and rarely sailed in the last ten years.

I'll move em to Lake Sweetwater in May.

Don't know if I should now try to sell my two Starfish or keep em and set a family goal of putting seven Holdridge\Ludy sails on the Lake at one time.

No slight intended to the good folks of San Angelo, but if I decide to sell them I will want to pass them on to someone who will use them on Lake Sweetwater.

The parts are located in San Angelo, TX. They are in the same building that manufactured the Starfish for over 50 years. Fillip Mfg. Co. is not in business now, John Fillip retired about 3 years ago. But if you need parts give me a shout. Sails are made to order due to the many combinations available.
