As of 7 May 2014, the bait shop has closed due to drought and a recent major fish kill.
As of 18 July 2013, the Lake Sweetwater Thursday night Bass Tournaments at the bait shop have been put on hold until further notice.
26 October 2018: The bait shop is still closed, but the public boat landing is open again, for the first time since the summer of 2013.
